MEYA
For family and close friends

Private connections.
Simply yours.

MEYA is a messenger for the people who matter to you. You add them in person or with a one-time invite link, and everything you share is encrypted on your phone. Nobody else can read it, not even us.

Everything your family needs, nothing it doesn't

No ads, no feeds, no strangers. Just the people you choose.

Messages

Replies, reactions, editing, pinning, favourites and search, with sent, delivered and read ticks you can switch off.

Voice and video calls

Call right away or plan a call in the shared calendar, with a clear “Join” button when it's time.

Photos, videos and files

Share photos, videos up to three minutes, voice messages and documents such as PDF, Word and Excel.

Status

Share a moment with chosen people. It disappears on its own when it expires.

Safety numbers

Scan each other's code once to confirm nobody is in the middle. MEYA warns you if a key ever changes.

Accessible to everyone

20 languages, right-to-left layouts, large text, high contrast and screen-reader support.

How it works

No phone number. No address book upload. No public directory.

  1. Create your space

Choose a name and a passcode. Your account lives on your phone.

  2. Scan or invite

Scan someone's MEYA QR code in person, or send a one-time invite link to someone far away. Strangers can't find you.

  3. Talk freely

Messages, calls and media are encrypted on your phone and opened only on theirs.

Encryption

Three locks, braided together

Every message gets its own fresh key. MEYA combines a classic key exchange with one built to resist future quantum computers, so an attacker would have to break both.

Messages are encrypted with libsignal, the open-source library from the Signal project, used unchanged. The code that connects it to MEYA is our own, and it has not yet had an independent security review. MEYA is not affiliated with Signal.

  • A new key for every message
  • Recovers safety if a key is ever exposed
  • Messages protected against future quantum computers

Private by design

MEYA uses proven, open-source end-to-end encryption. Messages are also protected against future quantum computers; calls use the standard encryption built into WebRTC. Here is exactly what happens to your data.

Only you and them

  • Your messages, voice messages, photos, videos and files
  • Your calls, profile, status and planned calls
  • Your contacts' names, photos and profiles
  • Everything MEYA keeps on your phone, encrypted and left out of cloud backups

What our servers can see

  • A random device ID for each phone, with no name or number
  • Which device sent a sealed envelope to which, when, and how big
  • Your network address while you are connected
  • Whether a waiting envelope is a message, a request, a call or other activity, so Google's push service can wake your phone with an empty notice
  • Never the content: envelopes are sealed, and deleted once delivered

No ads. No analytics or trackers. We don't sell or share data. MEYA is open source under the AGPL-3.0 licence. Read the privacy policy.
